Kogan’s run
Dr Mumbo is always fond of the showmanship online electronic retailer Kogan brings to an otherwise somewhat dull market. This latest stunt is no exception: Kogan is charging Internet Explorer users an obsolescence tax.

I went to the site yesterday using IE7 and there was no such warning for me.
Most of the IE7’s would be corporate use such as the multinational I work at.
Upgrading browser would be a big job (thousands and thousands of PC’s) for no real return for the company.
Whilst its funny to be snarky to such users as in the Kogan message above, the users of the browser have no input into the decision and the desktops are locked down. You can’t even run Firefox
@Bob Intelligent IT people can roll-out the upgrade of a new browser edition, including IE with a click of a a few buttons across an entire organisation.
The benefits of upgrading are, increased security, faster browsing and increased website compatibility.
The downsides are, well none, except the poor IT people have to stop eating those doughnuts and do some actual work.
There is absolutely no excuse for anyone to be using IE7 anymore, whether it be the multinational you work with, or the South Australian Government.
