Kyle Sandilands to radio rivals: I’m staying another three years and you can suck my arse
Kyle Sandilands has signed a three year extension on his 2Day FM breakfast contract, using the announcement to taunt rival network Nova and tell rivals to “suck my arse”.
In his final broadcast of the year, Sandilands told listeners that despite “strained relationships with on and off over the years” with Austereo management, he was staying on, as was co-presenter Jackie O.
He said: “Those over at Nova, sorry, you’re still not going to win next year because I’m staying right here.”
Oh joy. Three more years of me not listening to 2Day.

P.S as bad as Kyle is Jackie O is just as much the problem- for once can she stand up for herself? She is a role model for woman getting walked all over.
The best move channel ten ever made was flicking Kyle from Australian Idol even if ratings (admittedly) dropped. At least they’re not turning around and saying there is no such thing as inappropriate behaviour and listener standards. Austereo is ridiculous for keeping that creep on board.

Where to begin…
1. Re: Kyle signing for ANOTHER 3 years – Abhorrent “entertainment” and a poor use of the radio airwaves for yet another 3 years with the talentless, uninspiring, non-entertaining Kyle & Jackie O. The soundbite only goes to show what sort of man he is with such arrogance, lack of humility and some obvious personal issues which are unfortunately subjected to a mass audience daily. I don’t dislike him, I just dislike his demeanor, and Austereo’s misappropriation of prime listening time each morning.
2. Nova’s breakfast show unfortunately missed the mark in Sydney, while Melbourne’s ‘Hughesy and Kate’ have proven to be a winning formula. Ricki-Lee did her best, but the on-air dynamic just wasn’t meant to be.
3. Good luck to the MIx team for next year, two interesting choices to take over the airwaves and may really bring something fresh to the network, unlike Mix’s on-air breakfast team mix around the rest of the country. Usually, a poor standard of on-air talent.
4. Thanks for comments from inside the gates of ARN, Nick etc. Time will tell how successful the duo will be. Let’s try and be grown ups before slag off other shows and networks just ‘because we can’. It probably won’t be long before you deflect to DMG or Austereo. And then back to ARN again. And then probably to a radio broadcasting authority, before heading back to ARN/DMG/Austereo.
5. Tim, I understand transparency and the need for a 5th estate to keep the 4th estate media honest, but is it really necessary to take away someone’s anonymity in this forum? Let’s try and keep anyone’s opinions anonymous unless they choose to be identified. You didn’t name the person entirely, but identifying their place of work is close enough.
I like the site, Tim, and is a fantastic way to keep up-to-date with information in the media realm.
If you really want to go after anyone in the media and start exposing them, then why not start with the gossip columnists who are quick to judge others, cutdown others, and of course reveal, expose and maim others. There are plenty of skeletons there to share.

Good on him. The radio industry needs diversity to survive. With its rising competitors (ipods etc.) its a medium that needs to change and progress faster then any other.
Kyle might not resonate with some people, but it shows other budding stations, and rising ‘stars’/anouncers a way to engage people. Not that copying ever works.
He is good at keeping interest, and although i dont listen to him much myself, as someone who just started anouncing, i look forward to seeing how he innovates his show over the next 3 years.
If he fails, that will be a good lesson too.
I still wish they had Martin Molloy on…that was funny radio, bogans at their best.

I think his popularity says more about us as a society more than anything.
The Stig, you sound like you just read your first social studies/media 101 book. “Does media reflect society or does society reflect media? hmm let as ponder as a group.”
His popularity says that he engages his listeners. If you want to say a comment so fkn lame at least back it up with what you think it actually says about society so you can appear like you have a valid oppinion.

He woudln’t have been signed for another three years if he wasn’t good for business though would he. And yes Tui, agreed! He is and isn’t at the same time I’d say! The nightmare being the mess he can leave behind him after something he’s done. It’s attracted attention yes but not alwyas positive attention.
I can’t stand the guy personally. On radio OR on TV, so I don’t watch or listen! Winner. Apparently he goes nuts f you put the wrong colour snakes in his bowl of lollies. Seriously, get a better therapist.

Well I don’t like Kyle, but can’t argue with his success.
Sure he’s bombastic and abrasive – he’s a tad chubby and probably got hassled for it and is likely still sensitive over it.
But he’s making the bux and sticking it to the people who don’t like him.
Personally I’d rather listen to Brendan and Amanda on 2WS’s brekkie show, but hey each to their own.
Re Kyle Sandilands story –
Is it necessary to publish the potty mouthed mutterings of that Sub-prime IQ’d Cretin Kyle whenever he manages to string a few words together and vomit them up? Or is he just regurgitating his lunch of fast food, venom and bile? Poor lad, but spare us his neoro-problems.
So a show that has been sprung with fake callers, and specialises in degrading listeners and staff, is rewarded with a three year contract.

2DayFM stopped being worth listening to when the Morning Crew ended. The Kyle and Jackie O show is nothing but a sleazy, overrated show with a celebrity/ Hollywood fetish. In fact if they weren’t interviewing celebrities they wouldn’t have a show.
What a shame Hamish & Andy have decided to move on. I would loved them to replace that moron Kyle.
