Lara Bingle or Lee Lin Chin: Who did it better?

It’s almost precisely 10 years since Tourism Australia launched its ill-fated “Where the bloody hell are you?” campaign.
To coincide with that anniversary the good folk at The Feed have created a spoof of the ad to promote their upcoming forum on Australia’s Lockout Laws.
It’s worth watching if only for the scene where Lee Lin Chin revives Lara Bingle’s famous line…
And for the those who want the refresher, here’s the original:
The original is just so cringeworthy.
I must say, at the risk of being seen as a crazy Fan, that anything Lee Lin Chin presented or commented upon, would get the thumbs up from me.
To be honest I am a devoted Lee Lin Chin Fan :o)
The original ads failed to fire for one simple reason, and it had nothing to do with Lara Bingle, who delivered the punch line perfectly; the problem, which is not unusual, was in the overall direction, and to a lesser extent, the cutting of the ads.
Good theatrical direction is essential, especially when involving multiple characters.
Here, the characters just popped in on cue, with no sense of connection whatsoever.
The result is similar to missing the ball in tennis, and picking it up again to serve each shot, when you require a volley.
I freaking love the original!
A funny story about Lee Lin Chin.
On my first night working as bar staff in a prominent Sydney attraction, the party was roaring, with a thousand people or so kicking on at 10pm when we had to cut off drinks service.
It was Lee Lin, surrounded by mates, who loudly declared ‘That’s outrageous!!!!’
I snuck her another beer.
Cringeworthy indeed and approved by the then Chief Executive of Tourism Australia, none other than our beleaguered Treasurer, Scott Morrison. Another job where he displayed he was out of his depth?
“We had the camels shampooed”. Good name for a song.
Lee Lin chin has absolutely no talent. None of this makes sense.
@Garry
This is a page where opinion is sought and published, you are entitled to your opinion, so long as it is opinion. Your statement that Lee Lin Chin has [quote] absolutely no talent [unquote] is not opinion, it is blatantly asinine.
Lee Lin Chin might be trolling this article as Garry, me thinks.
A vote for Lee Lin Chin from me 🙂
@Garry are you trying for a job as judge on ‘Australia’s got ( no ) Talent?
Apparently the lobotomy is part of the package.
Lee Lin Chin!
