‘Let me be clear – I will not stop’: Lattouf’s ABC case heading to trial
Antoinette Lattouf has confirmed her mediation with former employees ABC was unsuccessful, and she will be heading to trial to fight her unfair dismissal case against the national broadcaster.
Earlier this month, the Fair Work Commission ruled Lattouf had been sacked by the ABC when she was removed from air before completing a five-day stint on ABC Radio Sydney last December, after sharing a social media post accusing Israel as using starvation as a “weapon of war”.
The ABC claimed that Lattouf was not fired, but simply taken off air as she “failed or refused to comply with directions that she not post on social media about matters of controversy during the short period she was presenting”.
This was dismissed by the FWO, whose deputy president, Gerard Boyce, said ABC’s chief content officer, Chris Oliver-Taylor, “made the ultimate decision to take [Lattouf] off air”.
Lattouf met with the ABC for an “incredibly disheartening” mediation today, which didn’t result in an out-of-court settlement.
“Let me be clear,” Lattouf wrote on social media, following the failed mediation. “I will not stop. I will not stop fighting for press freedom. I will not stop fighting for human rights. I won’t stop fighting for a brave and independent ABC, a public broadcaster that doesn’t bow to lobbying groups.”

An employer can’t ask you to do whatever and you just do it. If an employer mandated women to wear a mini skirt to work, would you expect them to comply? Or if they asked you to not report a legal violation?
Secondly Antoinette didn’t even do something they had asked her not to do. She shared a report that they themselves have reported from. It only became a problem when a Pro-Israel lobby group advocated for her termination.

It always seems ironic to take the public broadcaster to court over them not being left-wing enough.

What a waste of hardworking taxpayers money – Antoinette Lattouf deserved to be fired – if my employer asked me not to do something and I ignored them and did it anyway I would expect to be fired.
How selfish have we become in society where we think we can make our own rules even if we work for someone else. Talk about narcissistic.
Every taxpayer should be outraged and angry that their money is being spent for this trial.
