Lion becomes sixth highest grossing Australian-made film in local box office
Transmission Film’s Lion has made Australian box office history after the weekend, becoming the sixth highest earning Australian made film.
Since its premiere on January 19 the film has made a total of $27.729m, making it the sixth biggest revenue accumulation for an Australian film in Australian box office history.
According to the Motion Picture Distributors Association of Australia, Lion’s revenue is ahead of The Great Gatsby’s $27.383m which sits in seventh place, Crocodile Dundee 2’s $24.916m in eighth place and Strictly Ballroom’s total revenue of $21.760m in ninth place.

It’s so fake comparing movie performance over the years based on box office. I mean $48m back in 1986 has to be $100m+ in today’s money. How about we all grow up, act maturely, and start talking about ticket sales.
