Magdalena Roze and Kathryn Robinson join Ten’s “cheeky” Breakfast line-up
After months of on-the-grapevine tittle tattle, Ten has confirmed its talent line-up for its new morning show, Breakfast.
Joining Paul Henry and Andrew Rochford is ex-Weather Channel meteorologist Magdalena Roze, who joined the network in September, and Ten journalist Kathryn Robinson.
Ten’s head of news and current affairs, Anthony Flannery said in a statement: “The chemistry between these four personalities is exactly what we are after for Breakfast. It was obvious from the beginning of auditions that they have a dynamic with a difference; unpredictable but the perfect start to the day.”
Ten added the new show will fall in line with Ten’s brand values: “spontaneous, unexpected and cheeky”.
Couldn’t they have saved a salary by just getting either one of them to stand next to a mirror?
You’ve gotta hand it to Australian TV execs. They certainly know what they want when it comes to female talent.
Hmmmm… that did make me smile. So they are going to be “spontaneous, unexpected and cheeky” are they… i wonder just how cheeky they are going to be. Hang on I can do cheeky, if i wear a blond wig do you think they will give me a job?
I was strictly a radio & newspaper person in the mornings, but TEN has nailed it for me. Spontaneous, unexpected and cheeky entertaining is just what I need to set me up for the day ahead. When the ratings come out, I’ll be the one watching it.

The fact is Al, if you’re not young and attractive and straight out of the cookie-cutter mould, you’re going to struggle to get an on-air gig. Even if you have a brilliant mind and a sharp wit. Moreso for the girls than the boys, but no-one’s falling over themselves to hire ugly guys either.
I think we all know that if you transplanted Mag or Kath’s brain into the body of a 45yo frump, they wouldn’t stand a chance in hell in this business.
TV execs hire young, female eye-candy at a disproportionate rate. So who, exactly, is being sexist here?
Good luck to them, I’m sure they’ll do well. But don’t kid yourself that their looks had nothing to do with their hiring.
Can’t wait! Roze:Check. Robinson:Check. Rochford:Check. The Joker in the deck is the Kiwi; obviously the ‘cheeky-spontaneous’ factor! He’ll hog the camera, talk everyone down, and could well spoil the breakfast broth! Still worth a look, though!
I really hope that they use a meteorologist properly. They’ll be the only breakfast TV show on FTA with a qualified meteorologist – and I hope they keep her in a studio, either at a news desk, or in front of some charts, talking proper, accurate weather – not the fluffy crap that’s on the other channels. If I can watch a detailed weather report on FTA tv in the morning, that’s enough for me to watch this show. It’ll be a significant point of difference on breakfast television. Could be interesting. But yes – I think it’s going to be the blondes show though…!!!
I liked Wil Anderson’s tweet today: “Ch 10 describes new Breakfast show as “cheeky” which is PR talk for “one of our hosts is probably going to say something really racist”.”
How long is this show gonna last before it Sandilands – meaning, all the advertisers desert it after the (male) host says something despicable?
