Meat & Livestock Australia builds billboards that smell of meat
Meat & Livestock Australia has built a series of billboards that give off steam and the smell of cooking meat.
Across Sydney, roadside poster sites and bus shelters will waft barbeque scents as part of the “That’s your Beeflex” campaign.

Thats cool.
Great idea, with real insight.
But issues being raised here.
Is anyone allowed to woft the scent of their product? Blood and bone etc etc
Oh gross!
The vegans are gonna lurve that…
What is the ‘real insight’ here? The whole thing seems rather offensive and gimmicky.
original..

When you smell a bbq you want to get meat.
maybe it is ‘gimmicky’ but its true.
I feel like I’ve read this before, oh yes I did, a year ago

I hope I never walk past one.
the stakes are high on this and I hope they didn’t hit a snag and meet all comms objectives
Aaaah! That explains it.
On my flight out of Melbourne last night I must’ve sat next to an advert for dodgy curry.
No different to every Subway, Maccas or those bloody Lush stores that fill about 5 blocks with the flowery stench of their products!
The vegans can build their own… that smell of vegans
Ah nothing like the smell of burning flesh to tantalize the senses..
The billboard does not actually smell – it emits smoke. You can take an un-fragranced breath and stop googling ‘scent emitting billboards’ in order to post un-original ‘this has been done before’ comments (as seems to be the Mumbrella lurkers’ favourite pastime)
A more accurate version of MLA’s campaign can be found here, under the item titled “Aroma the new frontier in beef promotion”

Not sure that Meat & Livestock Australia really care what vegans think…not really their target market
OMG
What a great idea, well done
What I want to know is how they make barbeque beef smell. If there is a job for a guy behind the billboard cooking a barbie 24 hours a day, I would say that would not be the worst job in the world.
Who was the company that put this together ? This is amazing.
That is ridiculous, what next? next they will be putting real cows in a cage up there for effect.
Wound down the window today on the M5. Didn’t smell anything but exhausts?
An early April fool’s day prank perhaps? Ridiculous.
