Media and marketing digest: Oz beats the AFR on points, but journos are the real winner
So let’s do today’s media and marketing sections in numbers.
Obviously new and original facts in The Oz’s media section: 4
- Telstra might axe the print edition of Trading Post
- The government now wants to spend $66m rather than $16m on promoting analogue TV switchoff
- Journos are going to be embedded with Aussie troops for the first time
- Ex GPY&R bigwig Mark Mackay’s new gig
Items about journalism in The Oz’s media section: 9 (well, journos are the most interesting people in the business), including:
- More justification of why The Oz published info about the police terror raids
- More justification of why The Oz interviewed utegate’s Godwin Grech in his psychiatric ward
- How Fairfax’s National Times is being hit by delays and beaten by News Ltd’s The Punch
Items in the Oz mainly about News Corp-linked companies: 9 (Very. well. done. And see above)
Tim. Probably the best review yet – and the use of statistics will hold great appeal during these ROI-obsessed days.
On the trading season: maybe Group M has concluded its deals?
Tim, regarding MOVE. What is more important – getting the launch date right … or getting the data right? I’m sticking with getting the data right – and then deciding on a launch date.
love this number crunching – thank you.
gee, so many reasons to pay for their content = fail rupert + fairfax.
I think I’m with you, John.
And I’m starting to wonder if that means next year.
Cheers,
Tim – Mumbrella
Nothing official, but in my estimation some time Q0409 looks more likely than early next year.
There is a Group M mention in the bottom of the IAB Australia story re online measurement and again in the “brighter signs ahead”. So no stories re their TV negotiation but still plenty of mentions ….
