Mick Gatto set to feature in ‘real life Sopranos’
Mick Gatto is to be the subject of a reality TV show, with preliminary filming by Jerry Springer’s former producer already in the can, Mumbrella can reveal.
Gatto became a household name as a result of the first series of Underbelly which focused on the Melbourne underworld.
The early filming has been carried out by former Jerry Springer Show TV producer Toby Yoshimura who has mainly worked in the US but recently arrived in Australia. Yoshimura is also behind Australian reality online TV series Freshwater Blue.
Speaking from New York, Gatto’s agent Max Markson confirmed to Mumbrella that the project was at its early stages.

This is just a shit idea. Underbelly was rubbish, a show glorifying a bunch of murderers…. why do people think gangsters and criminals are celebrities now? They’re just lowlifes and should be treated as such.
I’m sure watching “mediation” and life in a crane rental business will be fascinating.

Yet another craptastic idea from yet another American who, shock, doesn’t have any idea how to make interesting television. Surely Freehand should know better? Obviously not, based on the huge success that the other Freehand / Yoshimura project, “Freshwater Blue”, has seen. (Edited by Mumbrella for legal reasons) “The project does not yet have a TV network signed up to it”? Maybe Freehand and Mr Yoshimura shouldn’t hold their collective breath…

I did some preliminary filming of the kids with the handycam at the weekend, I have access to them 24/7 – unfortunately our gripping footage of playing footy in the back garden doesn’t have a tv network signed up yet.
This “former producer” guy (Edited by Mumbrella for legal reasons). And why should it go to Nine? Are they more stupid than everyone else? According to Mr Markson people find Gatto very interesting – why? According to Gatto, he is just another regular guy, who hangs around with other regular guys (“mediating” apparently). Maybe they hang out with The Simpsons’ Fat Tony at “The Legitimate Businessman’s Social Club”. I can hardly wait.
