Updated: Million Dollar Flop rates just 644,000 for Nine (but wins last 15 minutes)
Nine’s disastrous start to the 2011 ratings season has continued with Million Dollar Drop pulling in an audience of just 644,000 on Monday night – leaving the network in the unusual position of being beaten in the timeslot by the ABC’s Four Corners and Media Watch.
The Eddie McGuire-hosted game show’s debut last Monday had received the network’s full promotional firepower, but only reached 933,000 on its first outing, 12th for the night, according to metro ratings from OzTam.
It did even worse this Monday, falling to 20th.
This was despite the network scheduling an extra episode last Thursday in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide, where it ranged from sixth to 20th.
I think most people lost interest when they saw how easy the questions were……..make the questions more challenging and there will be interest.
I can’t get enough of these ratings flops Tim.
Only getting through 8 questions in an hour is a joke. It’s all manufactured drama drawn out over too long. Make it shorter and sharper or ditch it Nine
Just not challenging enough for either the participant or the viewer..
Eddie’s just travelling on easy-street – he’s lost focus and the viewers have lost him..
I saw the ads for this show and was immediately put off by the annoying couples. Why would I want to watch a bunch of annoying people win a lot of money? Aside from that, the millon dollar thing is done.
Maybe the other show with Eddie Mac hosting they’ve just announced will do better.
No wonder 9 loses out on ratings. I live about 20km from Perth CBD and cannot get 9 hd reception.
Two words … Eddie f***ing McGuire. The quicker Channel 9 gets rid of the rancid stench of everything Eddie, the better. No credibility, no personality, nothing genuine. Just insincere, over-manufactured hype and drama that got a few in 10 years ago (yes it’s been that long) but has gone loooooooooong beyond its use by date.
