Mindshare Melbourne appoints new MD as Christian Solomon departs

Mindshare Melbourne is under new leadership, with managing director Christian Solomon departing WPP after 14 years.

Solomon joined Mindshare Melbourne in 2018 as NAB managing partner, a role he held for two years before being promoted to managing director. Prior to this, he spent six years at Mediacom China, where he rose to chief digital officer.

He is understood to be moving to a rival media agency, with fellow WPP veteran and current client partner Peta Southcombe set to take over as managing director of Mindshare Melbourne.

In a statement, WPP Media said Solomon “led the Melbourne business with energy, optimism and a people-first mindset”, acknowledging “his leadership and contribution”.

Southcombe has been with WPP for almost 17 years. She first joined Maxus as a planner in 2009, rising to marketing analytics director in 2015. That year, she moved to Mindshare Melbourne as strategy director, later becoming client manager and then managing partner in 2022.

“We have a strong foundation built on trust, talent and ambition,” Southcombe said. “Over my time with Mindshare, we have built an approach that has led to our continued and sustained momentum and I’m excited to bring a new energy into well-established growth strategies.”

The leadership change comes as Mindshare Melbourne formalises an overseeing structure for its consolidated NAB account, which it has held since 2012 and has recently expanded to include the bank’s other businesses, uBank and MyCard.

“This unit was created to bring sharper focus, deeper integration and greater impact for one of our most important client relationships, and I’m excited to lead a team that is so deeply invested in delivering meaningful commercial outcomes,” Eastcott said.

Mindshare CEO Maria Grivas, meanwhile, described Eastcott and Southcombe as bringing “well-earned trust, a commitment to nurturing high-performing
