Monkeys, Jay Grey and Eardrum pick up Radio Lions
A Three Drunk Monkeys ad for Ikea, produced by Eardrum, had the best Australian showing in the radio category at Cannes, picking up a Gold Lion.
The script:
TEACHER: Okay… Bradley, tell the class about your holidays.
Reminds me of a very similar joke from a Bill Bryson book called ‘Downunder’ actually:
This girl goes up to the bank counter with her mum one school holidays and presents the teller with $20. The teller is full of praise for the girl wanting to save and asks the girl where she got the money. Her mum explains that the neighbours have been building a new house next door and the girl has been helping out the builders by taking cupcakes and things over and cleaning up little bits of mess, so they paid her $20 in wages. The teller turns to the little girl and says “oh wonderful, and will you have another $20 next week to put in the bank?” The little girl sighs, exasperated and replies “yeah, I will if we ever get the fucking bricks through.”
Love the script – wish I had heard the spot live. Great insight and great use of the media. A deserving winner.
Okay, so i just noticed the embedded clip – so now i’ve heard it “live”. Doh!
