Movember global creative lead Josh Mann moves on
"It was a huge privilege to be part of that story": Josh Mann leaves Movember
Movember has farewelled its global creative lead, Josh Mann, who has stepped away from the men’s health charity after 18 months.
Mann, a former senior art director at Deloitte Digital, joined the Melbourne-based foundation’s in-house team as a freelancer in August 2024, shortly before succeeding long-term creative lead Hannah O’Mahony.
Founded two decades ago, Movember has built a global brand through its humorous, moustache-inspired campaigns, raising $1.8 billion for men’s health initiatives.
Most recently, Mann oversaw the foundation’s 15-minute feature “Where do your Movember donations go?”, starring TV actor Matt Berry.
Speaking to Mumbrella, Mann, who worked at Hive Creative before joining Deloitte in 2021, reflected on his time at Movember, calling it rewarding work.
“Like everyone else, I’d been watching Movember’s emergence over the last 20 years, and I love how it’s so brand-forward, but also how it has such cultural importance across so many different countries. It was a huge privilege to be part of that story and what we achieved together.”
Movember handles all its creative and marketing work in-house, with a dedicated team of up to 15 people based in Melbourne.
One of its biggest recent campaigns was “Shit Mo’s Save Lives”, a love letter to “follically-challenged” men encouraging them to take part in the cause. The campaign celebrated sparse moustaches and those who grow them, with Mann both overseeing its creation and writing the ad’s jingle.
Movember raised $138.4 million last year for men’s health, tackling cancer and mental health.
Speaking about his next steps, Mann said he plans to freelance in the short term while keeping his options open.
“I’m so proud of the work we did together at Movember,” he said. “I’m really hopeful I’ve left it in a good place for the future.”
In a statement, a Movember spokesperson confirmed Mann’s resignation, adding that the charity was due to start recruiting for his replacement shortly.
“In the meantime, creative leadership will continue internally with our established team, and it remains business as usual across our core creative work,” they said.
“Josh has made an incredible contribution to Movember during his time. [He] is a legend and has been a valued member of the team. We wish him all the best as he pursues other creative endeavours.”
