Mt Hotham repositions as resort for serious skiers in new campaign from Bloke
With the winter ski season getting underway Mt Hotham Ski Resort has launched a new campaign to reposition it as a destination for serious snowsports enthusiasts.
The new ‘Reach Your Peak’ campaign for Victoria’s highest ski resort has been created by Bloke and includes a new TVC shot from the perspective of a skier using a wearable goggles to superimpose details of other people on the slopes.

For me this does not quite hit the mark. Very cheap to make. We read from left to right and so I did not even look at the graphics on the right hand side. My attention was drawn to the centre of the screen the whole time. This did not sell the noutain to me at all..
They missed the part where ski patrol take your pass off you for no reason.

Yeah, could be any resort. Didn’t answer the question – why go to Hotham over another mountain.
I think the positioning makes sense, differentiates Hotham from the others and highlights what Hotham can uniquely offer. And the TVC delivers that feeling for me. Not a bad effort on what would be avery low budget.
Given I wrote the ‘Aim Higher’ line for Mount Hotham back in the mid-noughties all I can do is marvel at this dramatic ‘repositioning’. ‘Reach your peak’ says the pretty much the same thing.
Quite the quantum shift.

Why should I take my family there? Wheres the positioning? 75% of Hothams business would be families etc…… not advanced skiers……
Too James Bond (the Pierce Brosnan version) and not enough highlighting of the terrain, for serious skiers / riders. It looks like a video game and doesn’t do the resort offering justice.

looks pretty flat to me more like beginner groomer runs, where are the mountains? peaks? – any serious skier will go to NZ for the same price (where they actually have mountains not hills)

NZ for real skiing / boarding. It can even be cheaper and quicker to fly over there for a long weekend.
Thredbo, perisher, Bulla, Hotham, Falls; jazzing them up like this is merely polishing turds.
