Murdoch: The downturn will be good for us
Rupert Murdoch has today sent his troops a stirring memo designed to ease their fears about the coming downturn.
In the long message, in which he announces the departure of his long-serving number two, Peter Chernin, he reiterates that News Corp is better placed to see off its competitors in the downturn.
Within Australia, the company’s media properties include web site news.com.au, newspapers The Daily Telegraph in Sydney, Herald Sun in Melbourne, Courier Mail in Brisbane and Sunday Times in Perth and a stake in Foxtel.
Chernin had been seen by some as a potential leader of News Corp, if the crown was not passed to one of Murdoch’s children.
Thanks for the Bitmap of Rupert’s signature. It could come in handy if I want to snap up a bargain-basement priced media business during the downturn.
