Musk posts letter to Twitter advertisers as takeover deadline looms

Elon Musk has tweeted a letter to Twitter advertisers where he said Twitter would be”the most respected advertising platform in the word”, as the court-ordered deadline for him to finish the acquisition approaches.

“I also very much believe that advertising, when done right, can delight, entertain and inform you,” he said.

“For this to be true, it is essential to show Twitter users advertising that is as relevant as possible to their needs.”

Musk once tweeted “I hate advertising” when asked whether Tesla has a digital marketing department.

The billionaire was ordered to close the deal before 28 October, which, if carried out successfully, will bring an end to Twitter’s six-month lawsuit.

The letter comes after Musk visited Twitter’s headquarter and addressed its staff, where he denied the plan to lay off 75% of the staff as reported last week, according to Bloomberg.

The New York Stock Exchange is planning to suspend trading in Twitter’s stock as of Friday.

Update 28 October: Musk has completed the acquisition of Twitter. His first move as the owner of the company was terminating Twitter chief executive Parag Agrawal, chief financial officer Ned Segal and legal affairs and policy chief Vijaya Gadde, according to a report by Reuters.
