NAB recruits ex NSW premier Mike Baird as chief customer officer
The announcement by NAB that former NSW premier Mike Baird is joining the bank as chief customer officer will not have any impact on the structure of NAB’s marketing department, which was put in place seven months ago, the bank has said.
NAB announced Baird will commence the role of chief customer officer, corporate and institutional banking in April – just four months after his resignation from NSW politics. The move marks a return to the sector for Baird, who started his career at the bank as a graduate in 1989.
The role was one of three created in a marketing restructure put in place by the bank last year in a bid to better focus operations in Australia and New Zealand on customer needs, but will be completely separate from the marketing reporting lines, instead reporting directly to NAB CEO Andrew Thorburn.

Four months? Didn’t Mike Baird resign in Jan? http://www.abc.net.au/news/201.....nt/8193362
Hi Query,
Thanks for your observation. Mike will be taking on the role about four months after his resignation as premier according to NAB.
Sorry if there was some confusion.

I wonder how many funding deals were done with NAB when he was in the top chair at the big house.
Maybe his memory is as reliable as Arthur Sinodinos’ memory.
I’m off to crack that ’59 Grange with Bazza!
Mike was only pulling in about $300k as Premier, can’y blame him for taking a senior exec role at a bank which is probably worth a cool million a year.
Pretty harsh to use the sickness of his immediate family to justify his decision to leave politics half way through an elected term, though.
Grub. I’ve closed my nab accounts.
Pretty distasteful, politician leaves turmoil behind him, leaves early and takes obviously lined up job for huge money. As far as I can tell, most of his reforms have been either highly controversial, highly damaging to Sydney or highly expensive to the taxpayer, despite any intention of saving money.
