Netflix promotes Narcos with mock news bulletin featuring Michael Pascoe

Netflix has started promoting its new season of Narcos with a mock ‘Narconomics’ news report featuring business journalist Michael Pascoe.

The series, centred around Latin American cocaine syndicates, is about to launch its third season over the online platform.

In the mock news story Pascoe shares cocaine related facts on arrests, consumption and importation seizures, encouraging people to tune in to Narcos to find out how the epidemic has come about and more.

As part of the campaign Netflix has also distributed out-of-home posters and billboards in high consumption suburbs in Sydney.

The posters show web search results alerting passers by to the fact the suburb is “hiding a habit”.

TV commercials, digital video, geographically targeted street posters and billboards will be mediums used throughout the campaign.
