New editors for The Australian and Daily Telegraph as Paul Whittaker becomes Sky News boss
The Australian’s editor-in-chief Paul Whittaker has been named the new CEO of the Australian News Channel, replacing Angelos Frangopoulos.
Whittaker’s move has triggered a number of internal shuffles, with The Daily Telegraph’s editor-in-chief taking over at The Australian, and Gold Coast Bulletin editor Ben English taking the helm at Sydney’s Daily Telegraph.
Paul is very credentialed in newspapers but has no broadcast experience. A helpful tip for you as you take on this enormous role. Get yourself a right hand person, outside of SKY, with Broadcast experience.
Good advice. Get yourself someone who won’t cause the good presenters to walk. Then you can spend all your time with the genius Rowan Dean and the charming Andrew Bolt.
Forecast: Whittaker will discover that TV leaves very little room for running invisible hand agendas. The bovver boy will probably love the “after dark” tribe but find life difficult with the daylight humans.
