The New York Times appoints Damien Cave as Australian Bureau Chief

The New York Times has announced the appointment of Damien Cave as Australian Bureau Chief alongside Jacqueline Williams and Michelle Innis, who will also join the writing desk.

According to Telum Media, the announcement was made overnight as an internal memo was sent to staff at The New York Times by international editor, Michael Slackman, deputy international editor, Jodi Rudoren, and Asia editor, Phil Pan.

Cave confirmed the news in a tweet posted this morning.
