News.com.au issues apology to woman falsely accused of spreading COVID-19

News.com.au has apologised to a pregnant woman it claimed had infected wedding guests with COVID-19 (coronavirus).

“An article published on News.com.au on Monday April 30 [sic], incorrectly stated that Ms Sally Hawach unknowingly infected other guests with coronavirus at a wedding. That was incorrect,” the amendment reads.

The article, titled ‘Pregnant woman infects 39 people with coronavirus at wedding’ was in fact published on 3 April, however the apology currently refers to the future date of 30 April.
