News Corp commuter newspaper mX signs off with ‘heartfelt thanks’ in its final edition
The final edition of commuter newspaper mX has been released with a front page featuring all its staff.
The front page includes a quote saying: “From all of us at mX, a heartfelt thanks for picking us up and letting us share your ride home. We hope you’ve enjoyed the journey as much as we have. Here’s looking at all of you.”
The closure of the newspaper was announced last month with publisher News Corp blaming the “swift shift to mobile” of its “young commuter audience” for making the “decision inevitable”.
One News Corp publication down. Several to go.
Which one is next? Hope its the Oz with Rupe’s “retirement”
The advertising team rarely rate a mention in media coverage, however I’d like to congratulate team members past and present for their creative stand outs and passion for the brand. So many PANPA’s so little time. All the best.
In primative cultures, when the Emperor dies (or even the Husband) it is bad news for the Slaves who will be killed (or Wives) to accompany the Great One and serve him (or her) for ever more. Joy!
In Capitalist Cultures, the Boss screws up and the Workers get shafted.
Apparently the DIGITAL AGE really snuck up on the towering intellects of the mX Hierarchy. Who knew? Portable devices, whew! Who saw THAT coming???
Better get fresh champagne for the Boardroom to celebrate the recently-unemployed as they quietly file out the back door.
A good publication that unfortunately had to fold. While many say print is dead, a cross platform content marketing solution could have perhaps saved a long standing publication from the untimely demise and contributed to the advertising revenue
@Trina
“a cross platform content marketing solution could have perhaps saved a long standing publication from the untimely demise and contributed to the advertising revenue”
There it is yet again: “content marketing” being flashed around, without any substance.
MX was full of content marketing, or ‘splurge’ as many rational, non deluded folk would refer to it. MX was drivel, published by a publisher that has seen far better days. I am with comment #1.
