News Corp launches sport streaming service, KommunityTV

News Corp Australia has today launched its new home of live community sport streaming across Australia, KommunityTV.

The company said KommunityTV is the evolution of News Corp Australia’s growing live sport streaming program, creating a dedicated channel for audiences to experience community and grassroots sports.

This initiative demonstrates lack of sensitivity by News Media, as it ignores the vital role
volunteer community broadcasters in Australia have been playing for more than 2 decades to cover local
events, including local sport. Has News Media consulted the community media sector before
launching this production? The fact that they opted for Kommunity rather than Community
shows that they are aware of CTV’s voluntary efforts to provide a platform to local sport.
Hopefully, N. M. will contact CTV to discuss and resolve this issue.
