News helps Nine win the night as Ten’s Big Bash cricket wins in the demographics

sydney sixers logoTen pulled in 731,000 metro viewers for session two of the Big Bash match which saw the Melbourne Renegades beaten by the Sydney Sixers with the session the most-watched non-news program of the evening.

Session one saw 524,000 metro viewers tune in while 536,000 watched the post-game broadcast. Session two was the most-watched program across all of the key advertising demographics (16-39, 18-49 and 25-54) while session one was the second most-watched program amongst viewers aged 16-39 and 18-49, according to OzTam metro overnight ratings, which don’t include Perth where the cricket was shown on One.

The cricket gave Ten an audience share of 17.3 per cent, but that wasn’t enough to win the night with Ten tying for first place with Nine. When secondary channels are accounted for the Nine Network came out on top, with a total audience share of 28.1 per cent compared to the Ten Network’s audience share of 25.2 per cent.

Seven settled for third place with an audience share of 14.6 per cent while the ABC managed a share of 11.1 per cent.
