News Local launches digital platform, St George Shire Standard

News Local has launched an online news platform for the Sutherland and St George regions in Sydney’s South, the St George Shire Standard.
The news platform is the first ever for Sydney’s south and sits on The Daily Telegraph website.
It is being written and curated by Eliza Barr, who is covering development, crime, lifestyle, food and dining, transport, health, education and politics for the region, which runs from Waterfall to Wolli Creek.
An article written by Barr on the website reads: “It is News Corp Australia’s first ever local masthead in the Sutherland Shire and St George, published under its NSW community newspaper division NewsLocal.
“The Standard will be a digital-only publication that updates daily with exclusive news content and great stories that celebrate the local community its readers live in.”
“As a trusted community brand, News Local is committed to connecting with local communities who are often seeking new ways to stay in touch with what’s happening on their doorstep,” a spokesperson for News Corp said.
“The digital St George Shire Standard provides a new masthead and medium for our community in the Shire to stay informed.”
The St George Shire Standard…what a progressive, modern sounding, innovative title…
Now that the gentlemans agreement between News and Fairfax is officially broken, wonder what Fairfax will conjure up next in the Northern Beaches?
