Nine AFL panel show to go ahead tonight despite ‘crisis meeting’ reports as hosts rumoured to depart
Nine’s popular footy panel show will go ahead on Tuesday night, following reports of a “crisis meeting” at the media giant.
According to the Herald Sun, Channel Nine executives reportedly met to discuss whether Footy Classified will go ahead amidst claims that three of its hosts – Kane Cornes, Caroline Wilson and Craig Hutchison – will be defecting to Seven next year.
However, Mumbrella understands that the show will indeed go ahead tonight at 9.40pm and Wilson will host.
Mumbrella also understands that the reports about the speculated move to the rival network will be discussed as the AFL gears up for the grand final this weekend.

L-R: Matthew Lloyd, Caroline Wilson, Craig Hutchison and Kane Cornes
The news comes amidst reports that the trio will move to Seven in 2025 as part of a refreshed AFL coverage line-up. Though Cornes’ departure has already been confirmed by Seven, news of Wilson and Hutchinson’s moves only came to light this week.
Fellow Footy Classified host, Matthew Lloyd told 3AW on Monday: “I’m bitterly disappointed but no one is bigger than the show.”
It has also been reported that Hutchinson’s TV company, Rainmaker, will produce AFL shows for Seven next year.
Seven declined to comment when contacted by Mumbrella.
The news comes after Seven enjoyed its biggest Brownlow Medal coverage since 2015, which was watched by 1.36 million people on Monday night.
