Nine and News Corp close Your Money joint venture
Your Money, the joint venture between Nine and News Corp owned Australian News Channel, has been closed.
The channel, which airs on both Foxtel and free to air, will cease broadcasting on Friday May 17 after launching on October 1, 2018.
The decision comes less than a month after the decision was made to close the Your Money digital platform, with the traffic to be redirected to News Corp platforms. Your Money was previously Sky News business arm, Sky News Business which aired on Foxtel.
The channel could have worked in the middle of the property boom, they only missed it by 2 years.
The channel was overlapping with Lifestyle Home.
Your money has now been replaced by 9GEM HD
The Nine/NewsCorp JV’s fate was sealed when Nine purchased Fairfax. And, the talent were so out of touch.
If Your Money continued it would of been a monopoly.
Does this mean they can’t make $$ from the finance category as a JV, or Nine and News want to create their own separate finance categories ?

Me too. I have been suffering Your Money withdrawal symptoms since. It was the only show I watched. Such great presenters too. Bring it back Foxtel/Channel 9.
What a perfect opportunity for Channel 9 to launch a free to air music channel on 95, similar to 4Music in the UK or something similar to Channel V on Foxtel many years ago, playing a wide variety of music videos from different genres, 24-7.
Channel could go it alone on a business channel.
So one presumes Sky News Business will be back on Foxtel.
And Nine will try something new? The broader Fairfax/Macquarie family contains all sorts of content that could be developed for TV.
Hope this vacant channel isn’t wasted on flogging vacuum cleaners and tread mills.

I was just about to launch my new treadmill on Your Money.
It utilises the energy generated by the treadmill to do two things.
First, it powers small wheels so that the treadmill can be mobile, and the frame’s bar can be used to steer it around the lounge room.
Second, it uses Formula 1 technology to use the venturi effect of the underside of the belt that vacuums the floor and the whole of the room while you exercise.
Any other suggestions where I can advertise us?
BTW .. the brandname is ‘ExerciseSuckers’.

IMHO the channel wasn’t promoted sufficiently. A lack of good marketing for a business channel…ironic really. So sad to see 94’s demise.
I found it to be be the best TV show and so educational regarding your finances will really miss it but someone suggesting they replace it with a music channel says it all really!

A massive issue in Aus is the lack of financial education – Your money was a great insight to many financial matters which provided great insight to all who watched. Help all build wealth & take pressure off the public purse. In fact, it could have been broadened to a wider audience with a more educational stance and have had wider appeal. Eg; How does credit card interest get calculated. Loan amortisation – how does that work. Superannuation a subject in itself when including investment options, choice & risk levels. School kids could watch it in class & gain some long term financial benefit. Thanks
I agree with Peter. There is a lot we could talk about Australian business and economy. There is a huge scope to have business channel in Australia.
In fact the ABC should take over & start educating the population – massive long term benefit

That show is the closest thing this country has to financial education. Imagine if our population was more financially savvy our country would boom. Eg; Educate all on how Super works, about home loan ammortisation, saving and compound interest . We’d all be better off & the social security bill would greatly reduced due to individuals being able to make some educated financial decisions. An hour of that show a day in our school system would pump out some savvy kids.
Bring back Paul Clitheroe instead, he was the original.

It is sad that channel 9 is going to axe Your Money program. This is the best program on the TV channel. This is the only programme and my husband watch on the TV. Your money program is very educational, informative and interesting. I rated Your money program 10/10. I hope channel 9 will reconsider axing this program. I hope the government will fund this program and cut the funding for ABC because ABC sucks and bias. If this program is cut, I don’t know where I can find another alternative program that is as good as Your Money. This is the only program that teaches us on money.
It would of continued if Nine Entertainment didn’t take Fairfax Media.
I watch it quite often to get share information, ideas and advice. It’s a great show! The property show is also good info. The only two things wrong with the show are the low grade resolution on a large screen and the repetitive jingle promo “YOUR MONEY” every break, which is really annoying! It beats watching the US version of stock shows like “MAD MONEY”! Please bring it back in HD!
Such a shame! I am addicted to this channel. It is on in my house pretty much all day from 5 in the morning. The contributors and insights by the very best in the business community are amazing.
I could never understand why there was such little in the way of commercial advertising. For a business channel – it lacked a business plan.

There is an irony here but all business ventures carry risk (see what I learnt by watching). I will miss this channel, probably my favorite. I hope that Sky Business returns. Could some people drop their subscriptions if it doesn’t? Some of the best journalists on TV. Probably inevitable that it wouldn’t last on channel 9. Do the same people who watch MAFS and A Current Affair want to learn about PE ratios, technical support levels and dividend imputation?
If foxtel dont have an Australian content finance channel then I have no reason to stay with them. After Game of Thrones I am out of here.

Sophie and James are amazing hosts. I watch it week in week out. I can only hope foxtel bring it back soon in whatever format as it is unique in australian tv and is worthy for me to pay tv subscription.

Perfect opportunity for Channel 9 to use Foxtel’s platform for a 24hr news channel of their own. There are too many news bulletins on Channel 9 and should be offloaded to a 24 hr news channel and get some decent programming back on it’s main channel with variety shows, kids shows and more australian programming.
Very disappointed that Auction Day has been dropped. Watching the auctions every Saturday was such a great insight into how the mind ticks over. I will miss the cheekiness of James Treble and the fascinating before and afters with Cherie Barbour. Such a shame to lose this truly interesting program. Please reconsider, this was indeed the jewel in your crown!
I’m absolutely devastated to hear this news. I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard lovely Leanne Jones and James Daggar-Nixon thanking guests for their advice over the years. After researching the internet I finally found the notice that it is closing down. I have found Your Money to be invaluable with the advice and the professionalism of those two presenters. I am mortified and am wondering how I can continue to receive such wonderful advice in the future. I agree with some of the above comments regarding Channel 9 (usually a load of childish rubbish) and ABC (far too left wing biased). What a sad state of affairs this is.
I’m still looking for news of the closure. Last straw for me. Foxtel Go becomes Foxtel gone.
I have enjoyed watching this channel on a regular basis. Found the shows to be very educational and necessary. Sad to see it come to an end!
I can’t believe it. Can’t they adjust the business model ? Since I stopped working last year I have been watching this every day ! It’s great and the hosts and contributors, are friendly, light hearted, realistic and the contributors are knowledgeable and smart. This is a huge loss !
Please bring the show back. There are so many experts on there and I have gained so much valuable knowledge.
Very sad to hear of the demise of Your Money, this must be a reflection on management, as all the presenters and their guests are fabulous, many are both intelligent and informative. My knowledge of the share market and all the factors that move the market and shift sentiment has skyrocketed! I have even picked up the financial lingo! So please “kick the can down the road” with this decision. I will particularly miss Ticky, her interviews of prominant CEOs are fabulous! So insightful!
Good on you channel nine / news corp. Stuff up another great show. Everything you do goes down the gurgler. You’d rather concentrate on MAFS and all the reality garbage. No wonder i haven’t watched channel nine for years. Feel so sorry for all the presenters. Hard to believe this audience will not be catered for going forward with demographic trends. If Channel 9 can’t nail it another station will surely grab the space. Maybe the ABC could pick it up! Financial education and economic awareness drastically short in current environment.
This will now make me decide whether to stay on foxtel and I always thought too much time was spent on self promotion all through the screening where possibly advertising products for a fee would have been a way to make it lucrative. No business plan – no business.

I really need this channel to learn all about finance & make decisions in investments in the share, bond and property markets. I watch and record the programs daily, especially trading day, your call. I will be so lost without it!

Honestly, I would have that channel on in the background 24/7. So much knowledge gained and it’s such a shame to see it go.Who ever is behind this move, is a fucking idiot. Australia needs a finance channel similar… it’s a great investment to educate the population on all matters financial. Shame on you C.E.O of channel 9.

I HOPE THEY GO BROKE!! they say the issue was revenue… really The fox network and channel 9 ? they seem to have enough revenue to keep pumping the mindless street trash drivel on every other channel they own but can’t keep this one alive? hey lego masters was a real adventure, and that rigged millionaire hotseat always seems to have winners who have worked at channel 9, be related to eddie mcguire or someone in the network, or at times be led by eddie to choose a certain response… well no more watching channel 9 for me, and i got rid of my foxtel in 2002 anyway. but never mind im sure they will put the spare cash they have budgeted for this channel back into the splendor they call “the Bachelor” series…stink!
I believe there is a deeper reason behind the axing. It was too informative. The establishment in Australia can’t have that. They don’t want an educated middle class.

Totally agree with you Bob, this channel was bloody great and the information and education it provided absolutely invaluable.
The presenters and guests had become like family, I watched the channel everyday for over ten years and will miss it terribly, especially people like Howard Coleman and Peter Switzer and their wealth of knowledge.
I can only encourage Sky to bring back the business channel, loosing the Premier League was bad enough but this is intolerable. I’m seriously considering cancelling my Foxtel subscription now unless they come up with a replacement show quick smart.
I was so upset to see this channel removed, i enjoyed it very much and it was so helpful for a new person getting into the market. The live platform was excellent, but of coarse the networks cut this program and leave us with the usual street trash that never ends on other channels like bachelor 24 hour commercials and all the other crap. If these network directors can’t figure out why their networks are failing, then just keep going this way and im sure you will have no viewers left in no time..

I couldn’t believe it when I realised they were presenting the final show last night. It was the only show providing non-biased, educational financial information on free to air TV. Really gutted to see this channel taken off air.
i guess this shows us that the executives think so little of their viewers that we want more married at first site garbage than something interesting and intellectually stimulating like “your Money”. Do these people really think they have no intelligent viewers left? how insulting.
..however ..it is interesting that they remove a channel that helps people become more independent and successful and most likely replace it with something to keep their new usual viewers feeding of their corporate teet.

Did not know about this till I tuned in to see Your Money Your Call with Howard!! So disappointed they have shut it down! Foxtel does not do itself any favours here! In fact I will need to review my subscription as it is to expensive for some of the crap they have on compared to good quality, informative shows like this. Loved this and the real estate stuff on Saturday. Come on Foxtel rebirth it or you will feel the backlash!!! Not happy Jan.

Very disappointing that Channel 95 has been closed down. Looked forward to viewing every day. Great segments. Very informative, with many talented and likeable presenters and guests. I hope this same show is soon reborn on another free to air channel or perhaps YouTube.

I couldn’t believe that as I was surfing the channel some time ago I accidentally tuned in to Channel 95 and watched the early fox business news and record durning the day.
I mentioned it to all my business friends and all agreed it the best business show on our networks .
Now I have to wait to read the following days paper to see what was the yesterday’s business news .

It’s so sad for the closure of this fantastic program. I had only found out this program early this year, since then I watched it every day! It certainly provided a great deal of insights on stocks in local market from some of the best financial and investment minds in this country. Their professional commentary and in-depth analysis will be greatly missed!

I can’t believe they have taken this show off. I too watched every day and taped the lunchtime ‘Your Call’ segment if I wasn’t at home. Why can’t we just have the Sky Business Channel back as we had before Your Money launched? That format went on for years, and seemed to function well. Please Foxtel reconsider and bring the show back, even in some streamlined format. Australia needs a dedicated business channel.
If they stopped running the same self promotions every commercial break and did a little more cross promotion they would have found a viable market.
The Show was educational, it was informative and it was interesting. Unlike the usual refuse that the capitalist media or Big Brother at the A.B.C dishes up. God Help us all. It looks like all that we are to be left with are repeats of the Kardashian’s and dusty ol’ articles by Ross Gittens. Not, I concede two surnames that you are ever likely to find in the one sentence ever again.

It is truly disappointing to see Channel 601 disappear. Surely we can somehow find the funding for it’s continuation. Australians are starved of financial information and this station certainly delivered it. They were an amazing team. Looks like we will have to watch CNN instead. Maybe the Government should fund this venture. It is such a loss to the Australian public.

Yes very disappointed to lose the program. It was stimulating to hear different views on all aspects of buying and selling shares by very informed people.

Just got used to what was being offered & u shut it down.
Current REAL tv with generally positive attitude to financial matters. Didn’t nesessarily follow the political spin sometimes shown but appreciated the very current data that was presented.
Its sad that reality ‘ha ha’ tv survives.

My share portfolio was based on information collected over the ten years I have been watching the Foxtel businesses channel.
It is the main reason I have Foxtel and put up with the other crap offered. I will be reviewing my subscription. My condolences to the many intelligent and talented presenters of the program.
You obviously had a failed business plan. Set about recasting “your money” so you can influence how we invest our money which is very important to us. What was the real money for ‘pulling’ this program? Very UN-Australian. I am prepared to pay for such a program.

It was the only channel I watch morning, noon and night. The best informative news and financial advise that was comprehensive with thoroughly concise informative economic and finance reviews. I miss it everyday.
Channel 9 should give it a little more running time. There are viewers out there who like me have the same opinion. A public survey would attest to this.

So we finally get a channel that brings us brilliant programs , Smart ,Savvy, Intellectually balanced which for the first time had me drawn back to the commercial networks and then NOTHING , No wonder commercial networks are failing that’s unless they are offering brain dead reality programs.
As I leave the TV off once again and can only but think to myself what an amazing opportunity has been lost once again to short sightedness and lack of ability to back in a great concept. 9 & Fox my new motto is IM DONE with both of you.
This is really sad, my son and I loved this on a Saturday morning, should have kept it as a “community” service.. the whole channel could have bee structure better also.. adding shows and promoting those that could “teach” people about finance and money. Very sad indeed

I watched Sky Business & then “Your Money” diligently every week day for years. Super informative, educational and a must for a heavy traders like me. True Market Experts gave great, up to date insight into what was going on in the Australian & World Markets & I made many of my market decisions/orders from the knowledge I gained from this channel. I am bitterly disappointed that this much needed service has gone… Foxtel, BRING BACK SKY BUSINESS please!!!!!
I have a smsf what am I going to do now. Pay a fortune in fees for someone else to manage it. No point keeping Foxtel now. Maybe the brokers from the channel could start their own show, it doesn’t have to be 24 hrs, ANGRY ANGRY
There is a huge scope to have a business Chanel in Australia. Financial advice is still a good topic for Television.
They didn’t market it correctly. Being a Finance/Business Channel they could have gotten lots of ads sponsors especially with the banks and micro loan companies. For the share trading section they can review so many different platforms besides CommSec who would have been happy to pay. Them there could have been reruns of Your Money as well. MyBudget, iSelect, Compare The Market etc…so much missed potential.
Just returned from overseas – extremely disappointed to find ‘nothing’ on channels 601 and 95.
Your Money was all I watched on TV (at all times of the day and night) and most of it was useful content as I am a self directed retiree/ investor.
It failed due to a lack of an appropriate advertising strategy/budget etc.
All their self promotion/advertising was on these two channels and not to a wider audience than that which was already watching Y.M!
Hopefully Sky News Business will bring back ‘Your Money Your Call’ etc. which was on the old channel 602.

Best business channel every, informative and educational. Australia has no financial channel to help SMSF, typically Australia has nothing. I have just cancelled by foxtel subscription

Channel 9 should replace it with Sky News. Sky News works well on the Mid North Coast as a free to air channel and I am certain it gets much higher rating than Your Money.

I also loved Your Money. It was the Australian spin on the US business shows, which are on Fetch TV. I prefer the Australian flavour. I had it on every day and had plenty of good tips for trading shares. The Saturday auction show was also a good insight into the property market. The only thing left that is similar, is Switzer TV on YouTube. Please bring it back!
