Nine appoints The Australian’s Simon King as network homepage editor
Nine has appointed News Corp journalist Simon King as editor of the nine.com.au homepage.

King joins Nine from The Australian where he has held several senior roles including night editor, senior news and sports reporter, columnist and opinion writer.
He replaces Matt Henry as nine.com.au’s Network Home editor, with Henry departing the company for a role elsewhere.
Helen McCabe, head of lifestyle at Nine, announced King’s appointment internally via a staff memo: “He has also won a number of prestigious awards including a Kennedy Award for online news breaking.
“In addition Simon holds a Masters of Arts in Journalism, a Bachelor of Economics and is currently studying for a Master’s in Business.
“As you know nine.com.au is now consistently second in the Nielsen rankings. This is an outstanding effort by everyone involved. Simon’s appointment is part of Nine’s exciting plans to continue evolving this business. ”
Nine.com.au had a unique February audience of 4.574m, according to the Nielsen Digital Ratings (Monthly), behind News Corp’s news.com.au audience of 5.669m.
The appointment of King follows on from the official launch of 9Mums and the appointment of Mums editor Kelly Baker as well as the appointment of Fix editor Ashley Spencer, deputy Fix editor Julia Naughton, Fix writer Aine Ryan and Style writer Harriet Armstrong.
