Nine banks on Million Dollar Drop
Nine Network is hoping to recapture some of the magic of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire with new prime time gameshow Million Dollar Drop hosted by Eddie McGuire launching next Monday.
The network is giving the launch its best shot, preceeding it with two of its last remaining new episodes of Two And A Half Men at 7.30pm and 8pm, in the slot where the fading Shit My Dad Says has been running. To make it a Two And A Half Men triple bill, there’s also a repeated episode in the 7pm slot.
The format already runs in several other markets including the US.
From next Monday Million Dollar Drop will appear in the timeslot occupied in recent weeks by This Is Your Life. Last night’s Terri Irwin episode rated 796,000.
The one-hour game show is produced by Southern Star at Docklands Studios in Melbourne.

Good time slot choice – nothing else to watch on Mondays at 8;30pm
Eddie’s just the wrong guy – he’s so yesterday.
“cos of this it’ll peak at 800,000 and then collapse.
We’re all bored of Eddie
Same old tired formula for Channel 9…
Eddie building suspense, I’m so tired of it, I don’t think the audience will cop it, they’re over him no matter the format.
Not more maguire? Stop trying to be Tony Barber,Eddie, you just dont make the grade.
Charlie Sheen hosting. Now we’re talking…
