Nine News and NineMSN launch user generated mobile app
Nine News and NineMSN have launched a mobile application that allows users to report the news by sending in their own photos, videos and news tip-offs directly to the Nine newsroom.
NineMSN’s head of news Hal Crawford estimated that the volume of content submitted by users could increase five-fold as a result of new app – called Nine Newsbreak.
“In the past, users could upload content to our site, but there were a number of steps involved,” Crawford noted. “You had to shoot the video on a handycam, then use a USB to transfer the data to a computer, then upload it.”
So, do these contributors to content get paid for that content if it’s used?
