Nine rolls out one hour national news bulletin to 1.2m
Nine News extended its bulletin to a full hour across all five cities last night winning audiences of 1.238m for the first half hour and retaining 1.2m for the second, preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam show.
Nine had been experimenting with the one hour news bulletin in Sydney since the October bush fires and a Nine spokesperson confirmed the network would continue with the hour long service across the country throughout the coming year.
However, it was not enough to stop Seven from taking a commanding overall audience share for the evening.
The show was the most watched in the 25-54 demographic and did particularly well in Melbourne where the second half hour was the most watched program of the night.
I watched a bit of this news after the cricket on the weekend and it was appalling: there was a 3-minute piece on the unusually warm weather in Brisbane. People in Sydney do not care about Brisbane. I’m sure the other way round is different, as Sydney is an important city, but I wouldn’t care if a nuclear explosion tore through Indooroopilly rendering all those ‘State Schools’ has Hazmat Zones.
Wow. Typical small minded Sydney-centric thinking.
