Nine signs BBC natural history deal

BBC Worldwide has announced its second content deal with an Australian broadcaster in two days.

Yesterday saw 7Two snap up BBC archive content. Today, BBC Worldwide announced a deal to air natural history content on Nine and digital sister station GEM.   The announcement:

Cannes / Sydney: More than 26 hours of world class natural history content from the BBC’s renowned Natural History Unit will air on the Nine Network following a deal with BBC Worldwide Australia.

The deal includes the pre-sale of Frozen Planet to Channel Nine, the latest title from the BBC’s new portfolio natural history offering, BBC Earth. Narrated by David Attenborough and from the makers of the astounding Planet Earth, the six part series, due to launch in 2011, is an epic portrait of two disappearing wildernesses – the Arctic and the Antarctic, before they change forever. Many of the spectacular landscapes, charismatic animals and their behaviour have never been filmed before.
