Nine’s Embarrassing Bodies rates modestly in new time slot
Nine’s Embarrassing Bodies has rated modestly in its new time slot of 9pm in the Wednesday night ratings.
The British series, which sees people have their embarrassing medical conditions diagnosed on TV, had previously run in the 10.30pm and 11pm time slots.
Last night the show, which was set in Thailand, rated 651,000 across the five city metro market, according to preliminary ratings from OzTam.Heavily promoted by Nine, the show was 16th for the night and well behind Seven’s Criminal Minds, which began at 8.50pm to rate 1.019m in 7th place.
However, Embarrassing Bodies did beat ABC1’s Randling at 9pm, which rated 495,000.
Puberty Blues = Devastatingly good drama
I Will Survive = Devastatingly bad TV
Newsflash: Channel 10 has just announced they are changing the name of “I Will Survive” to “WIll I Survive”
Place you bets.
The problem with Puberty Blues is that is would probably have worked far better as a mini-series over two nights. This is the same issue as arose with Bikie Wars. Ten think they can milk dramas over many more nights than the idea allows. They might have won the young demographic but still the numbers asre small. When Ten is able to put an Australian drama to air which consistently rates over a million then the advertisers will come knocking again. It needs to seriously review its development slate and its strategy as it appears not to have one at the moment.
Should move the “Bodies” ack to the later slot, a much better time for this quirky show.
Television does not get any better than watching a woman put coffee “up her butt everyday” as EB continually reminded us.
@ Harry – I agree, Puberty Blues should have been produced as a miniseries or telemovie, however, if its longevity prevents more hours of reality tv, I can’t say I mind
EB is a desperate move by a desperate network trying to find a hit. It’s unwatchable paytv content.
How is it “embarrassing” if the person is willing to be seen and talk about it to millions of viewers? I agree with some of the above comments – the show would be better moved to a later evening timeslot. The same with SBS’s “Inside Nature’s Giants” series. Wonderfully educational but the programme includes substantial imagery of animals being dissected apart, at 8.30 p.m., I’ve only just finished eating Sunday dinner. :/
Full vaj shot at ten past nine on a major network channel?
Are you seriously f*%king kidding me??
If my child was 9 or 10 s/he would have seen that. .
Australia- stupid one day, hypocritical the next….
