Not much of an audience for TV Burp
TV viewers don’t seem to like their shows having fun poked at them, if Thursday’s ratings for TV Burp are anything to go by.
The second episode of Seven’s satirical take on the week’s telly, presented by Ed Kavalee, was watched by only 846,000 viewers. Sketch show Double Take, which preceded it, didn’t do much better, pulling in 942,000.
Nine’s 20 to 01 (1.1m) and Ten’s Rush (1.1m) in the same timeslot both did better, according to preliminary ratings from OzTam
Earlier in the night, Ten’s The 7PM project appears to have stabilised, delivering 767,000 – slightly up on Wednesday.
Last night’s share: Nine 29.6%; Seven 26%; Ten 22.8%; ABC 16.8%; SBS 4.8%.
Thursday’s most watched shows:
- Seven News Seven 1.5m
- Today Tonight Seven 1.4m
- Getaway Nine 1.3m
- Home and Away Seven 1.2m
- Two and a Half Men Nine 1.2m
- Rush Ten 1.1m
- A Current Affair Nine 1.1m
- 20 to 1 Nine 1.1m
- Nine News Nine 1.1m
- The Amazing Race Seven 1m
Its an interesting idea, but the host is condescending and the content matter….well its just not very well done.
TV Burp is a copy of the E! show, ‘The Soup’. It can be seen every Sunday night at 7pm in Australia.
Check it out here.

I really like it!
Shame it’s a copy but, hey, that’s TV.
It is like the Soup but it’s actually a format. In the UK it’s Harry Hill’s TV Burp. I only say the first ep but Ed has watched Harry a bit too much and needs to relax and be himself more. Doubletake suffered from death by bad canned laughter. Burp is okay. It should be on first.
The Soup was originally called ‘Talk Soup’, which debuted on E! in 1991.

Thursday is a tough call between Rush on Ten and TV Burp on Seven. I watched Rush last night but taped TV Burp. Both great shows I reckon.
It felt weird to watch but I enjoyed it. cheap tv for them to produce
I dont know if its just me but watching Ed I cannot never really tell whether he is being himself or someone else. Most likely because of Thank God you’re here. So the whole show for me jsut felt a bit awkward…? And it didnt make me comfortable to watch
I think TV Burp is great – but then I was a massive fan of the UK format Harry Hill’s TV Burp. And Ed is being someone else, he is aping Harry Hill’s mannerisms
I really enjoy TV Burp. Glad to see Ed on TV. I’m sure he’ll settle into his own thing as the show progresses. If there was any justice he’d have his own radio show – not struggling to be heard in between Hughsie’s whinnings.
This is a great show to end the day with. The only show I bother to consistently watch. Keep it going channel 7.
