Nudie jumps on coconut water bandwagon and aims fire at sports drinks
Nudie, the juice brand, has jumped on the coconut water bandwagon sweeping the US, with the launch of its own range of the drink.

James Ajaka, Nudie CEO, said it is hoping to muscle share away from sports drink brands, with coconut water positioned as a healthy way of hydrating.
I frickin’ love coconut water. If I had the money, I’d invest in them too.
A nutritionist on the tele the other day said coconut water’s very tasty and all that… but it still doesn’t beat simple, plain water. Personally, I’m always deeply suspicious when a foodstuff we’ve had kicking around for thousands… millions… of years, suddenly gets reinvented and the hell marketed out of it as if it’s “new” LOL.
“Nudie Coconut Water is a very pure offering – and with its hydration element we’ll now be appealing to that market as well now.”
that’ll be the ‘water’ element that’s hydrating, not the ‘nudie’ or ‘coconut’ elements – great USP.
Agreed @Rob. Besides, I’d rather drink it from a green coconut.
Can we see shots from the Mosman event please Doctor?
Coconut bras and err front & back bottoms I imagine
Sounds like all those celebrities are trying to replicate what Curtis Jackson (50 Cent) did with Vitamin Water.
Anything wrong with plain old tap water? The stuff that comes out of Melbourne taps tastes better than anything bottled and supposedly from the French Alps, Fiji or Mount Franklin …
mmm, doesn’t take long anymore does it!
I’ve been enjoying coconut water from the ‘el cheapo’ import stores for years.
Large cans full of the tasty water, and young, sweet coconut meat, around $1 for a large can. Will Nudie’s be priced accordingly?
Nuh! Nudie charge top $$$ for tiny bottles of their juices.
yes we really do seem to have a shortage of plastic bottles in landfills, drains and oceans.
Sad that whilst some bottlers have found a biodegradable bottle made from corn extracts, Coles and Woolies won’t accept them.
I am drinking one now (the “Straight Up” variety, not the Lychee-and-Lime one I also saw). It’s not terribly pleasant. It is in no way comparable to the experience of drinking the juice straight out of a green coconut.
It always makes me wonder if these ‘breaking’ campaigns/stunts ever get up on mainstream media. I would not have known nudie was launching coconut water if it wasn’t for mumbrella.
Nudie Coconut water was given to most of our office today….Not 1 person could finish it. Nothing should ever taste that bad.
@spongebob.
Our office was given it too..
If your not used to drinking coco water and only used to gatorade or water than i understand no one liking the coconut water difference..
I guess people need education on the taste of coco water.
More waste, more sad people imagining themselves as street royalty cos of what they drink.
@ Spongebob – agreed. The stuff tastes horrible. Never buying it again.
It’s a crazy world; buy a coconut, drink the nutritious water and enjoy the fresh coconut flesh too… There is no wastage and the rest of the nut can be used as a bra or for impersonating the sound of horses hooves.
A coconut will set you back a little less than a bottle of hyped up, tiny, Nudie rubbish…
I knew a clown who used to eat coconuts, his name was Coco.
