Ogilvy to review internal structure as head of strategy Mark Sareff departs agency
Ogilvy Australia has said it does not intend to replace its national head of strategy Mark Sareff, who is leaving the agency after four years in the role.
Sareff joined Ogilvy in what was a newly-created position in August 211 with a remit to oversee strategic output across both Sydney and Melbourne offices, and Ogilvy Australia’s strategy and planning team.
“Mark was brought on board with a clear remit to bring a national approach to our strategy and planning,” Ogilvy Australia chief executive David Fox said. “Having achieved this, he has decided it is time to move onto his next adventure.
“He leaves an established and highly capable planning and strategy team able to work on a range of diverse fields for local and national clients and solve business problems both great and small.”
Fox said there are no plans to replace Sareff with his departure providing the agency with an “opportunity to review the team structure and develop a recruitment plan accordingly”.
He praised Sareff as a being a “talented thinker” who worked across a “variety of successful campaigns and client teams”.
“We’d like to thank him for his contribution and wish him well for the future,” Fox said.

He’ll be snapped up quickly. An amazing talent.
A great mind and even greater bloke. Good luck Mark.
A tremendous guy with a big mind and an even bigger heart. What a loss. Always had time for people and always incisive at getting you to think/act better. Best of luck, Mark – you’re one of the greats.
All the best Mark. Look forward to seeing what’s next.
Liked and Respected.
Mark is both.
Liked because he truly is a gentleman
Respected because he has a razor-sharp mind.
Lucky people who get to work with him next.
Good luck Mark.
Mark is one of the industry’s best minds and is a true gentleman
Yes to all the above, save to say he doesn’t need ‘luck’ … Mark makes his own.
“A talented thinker?”
He’s only the most talented thinker you could get and a bloody wonderful man to boot.
Ogilvy’s new typeface.
Sans-Sareff.
More STW cost cutting
Mark is one of those planners who understands that the best briefs are brief and the very best briefs are vision, not instruction.
Trust me, he’ll have a plan.
Mark will go onto bigger and better things.
Big fan, sad loss. Where will he promote his blog now?
Great thinker and a great bloke, a very rare combination in this industry
