Optus launches $10 per month web TV service
Optus has joined forces with Fetch TV to launch a digital TV service. Called Optus MeTV, the service will cost $9.95 per month over two years.
According to a press release from Optus, the service will include:
– An ultra-modern user interface providing a rich and expansive browsing experience on multiple screens
– A set top box with in-built digital tuner and PVR with a one terabyte hard drive that allows for over 250 hours of storage in standard definition
– The ability to watch, pause and record free to air and digital channels
– Fetchtv’s popular Movie Box service which offers 30 preselected, on-demand movies per month, including seven additional films every week
Hoping that FetchTV on Optus is going to be better than FetchTV on iinet – looking at the response rates on whirlpool forums – this seems to be a case of “if you make a customer happy they’ll tell 1 person – if you make them unhappy they’ll tell 10 people”

Optus only have plans to provide Fetch via PC or Mobile devices. They do not intend on supplying a Set Top Box / PVR like current providers iiNet, Internode, Netspace, Westnet or Adam.net.
In regards to the smartphone app, this will be available to all current Fetch subscribers very soon.
