Osher Günsberg joins Nova
Osher is coming to Nova. Watch out, podcast ranker!
Osher Günsberg has taken his Better Than Yesterday podcast into the Nova Podcast Network.
Better Than Yesterday has been running since 2013, and has banked over 1,100 episodes.
The show offers a mix of interviews with a wide range of subjects, as well as Günsberg’s insights into current issues, peppered with honest revelations about his past struggles with anxiety and substance abuse. Günsberg signed a one-year deal with Nine podcasts in late 2024, which expired in November.
Nova announced the partnership this morning.
“I started this show in 2013 because I wasn’t hearing the kind of conversations I needed to hear when I was struggling,” Günsberg said in a media release.
“Conversations which not only acknowledged the challenges we all face from time to time but also offered hope for that person who is in the difficult place that I was.”
In early 2024, Günsberg lost two high-profile jobs in one day, when Ten axed both The Masked Singer and The Bachelor, both of which he hosted.
Speaking on the Mumbrellacast in November 2024, Günsberg was diplomatic about the business reasons behind his sacking.
“At the end of the day, whoever’s commissioning you needs to be able to cover the cost of production with the ad revenue that they’re writing. And if the ad revenue dips below a certain point, it doesn’t make business sense to pay for that show you get made,” he said.
“It’s not because I’m bad at my job. It’s not because the camera guy or the audio op or anybody … it’s just, this is where the ad revenue is going. And I can’t be upset about that.
“I knew it was coming; we all knew it was coming.”
Nova’s network director of podcasts, Rachel Corbett, said in the announcement that Günsberg has been “showing up for his audience since 2013, long before podcasting became mainstream, and he’s built a community that genuinely values the discussions he leads”.
“Bringing the show into the Nova Podcasts family is a proud moment for us, and we’re looking forward to supporting its next chapter.”
Nova’s podcast stable features Diary Of A CEO, Solstice Media, Podshape, News Corp’s podcasts across The Australian, Sky News Australia, The Daily Telegraph, Fox Sports Australia, news.com.au, and Matty Johns’ various podcast projects.
