Panavision’s Panalux lighting division for sale

Due to the decline of large scale international production in Australia, Panavision will sell its Panalux division, and its millions of dollars worth of lighting equipment are likely to leave the country and go “where there is production work”.

“Urgent action by Prime Minister Julia Gillard is necessary to address the current crisis. Unless changes to the screen incentive program happens, Panalux is just the beginning of the dismantling of key infrastructure. We have already lost hundreds of highly skilled crew,” said managing director Martin Cayzer.

Ironically, Cayzer made the announcement as he received the SPAA Award for Industry Services.

“International productions give us – and many more service companies – the flexibility to meet local producer’s budgets.  It allows our crews to be trained and gain experience so that they are internationally competitive,” said Cayzer.
