Patrick Delany to run Fox Sports
Patrick Delany has been named as the new CEO of Premier Media Group, which runs pay TV’s most valuable property the Fox Sports channels.
Delany is moving across from his roles as executive director of sales and product development at subscription TV platform Foxtel.
Premier Media Group is jointly owned by News Corp and the James Packer and Kerry Stokes-aligned Consolidated Media Holdings. Foxtel is owned by CMH, News Corp and Telstra.
Delany will take over from David Malone in July.
Prior to joining Foxtel in 2002, Delany was CEO of the channel creation and production business at XYZ Networks.
Premier Media Group chairman John Alexander said: “Patrick is an outstanding television executive who is ideally suited to take on the large scale growth opportunities that are available to us, particularly the Fox Sports.”
Delany said: “I have been privileged to play such an important part in Foxtel’s ’s incredible growth under CEO Kim Williams and an incredibly talented team that is passionate about subscription television and the choice it offers consumers.”
Foxtel issued its own statement about Delany’s departure. It quoted Williams as saying: “Patrick Delany is one of the most outstanding executives I have ever worked with and his is a superb appointment to run Fox Sports, which provides such a fundamentally important suite of channels to Foxtel.”
