P&G boss Maile Carnegie named as new Google boss for Australia and New Zealand
Google has appointed Procter & Gamble boss Maile Carnegie as its MD for Australia and NZ. She replaces Nick Leeder who announced his move to France in March.
Carnegie has worked for P&G for her entire career, joining the company in Sydney in a marketing role from university. She joins Google on July 15.
Google issued a statement saying:
Wow, definitely an outside of the square hire, will this see an increase in digital spend across fmcgs?
Congratulations Maile!
Looks like you’re a perfect fit for the job.
Will Maile Carnegie turn Google into a good corporate citizen and base it’s Australian operations in this country rather than a tax haven so Australians may receive a fair share of tax from the millions of dollars advertising revenue Google is hoovering up from other media outlets ?
She may also think about the dreadful defamation and harassment Aussies can suffer from websites hosted by Google but which they constantly proclaim they are powerless to act upon complaints or make those defamed jump through a 1000 hoops while still accepting the advertising revenue.
Wow – an inspirational woman leader!
PatC it’s a sales role so I doubt it.
Another win for women in the workforce.
Wow! congrats!!
So will she ensure Google Australia now pay its fair share of tax? Or will Google continue its tax dodging ways under her leadership?
Fantastic to see a woman in one of Australia’s most powerful media roles.
She clearly has got there through hard work and skill. I read she gets up at 4am each morning to work so she can be home for her kids in the evening!
Will be great to see where she takes it. Big cheer, will inspire lots of others.
