P&G drops Mediacom for Starcom in biggest media move of the year
Procter & Gamble has dropped GroupM’s Mediacom for Publicis-owned Starcom in one of the biggest Australian media agency moves of the year, Mumbrella can reveal.
The move comes after the FMCG giant said earlier this year it was looking for agency cost savings and appointed Vivek Gupta to lead the Australian operation in March.
The company said in a statement: “P&G Australia & New Zealand has appointed Starcom, part of Publicis Media, to be our media agency effective October 2018.
A big loss indeed. But hardly the biggest of the year….
Not good for MediaCom – That’s Revlon, P&G and (I think) DeLonghi in the space of a week.
To be fair, I believe they declined to pitch Revlon and essentially resigned the business globally
Don’t worry, they’ll still be saying they book 3b a year . It seems for every client they lose their billings go up .
120 days payment terms from a company that is publicly stating they are trying to globally clean up the media landscape. This goes directly against that.
Why should a media agency have to provide a really big free line of credit for 75 days. Just crazy. I would love to know how Starcom can fund that?
You make a very good point, Unfair…
There will be no PR blitz from Marc Pritchard on this!
