Pitch Perfect 3 and All The Money in the World fail to beat Jumanji at weekend box office

It was the opening weekend for big-budget films Pitch Perfect 3 and All The Money In The World, but both were both unable to knock Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle off the top spot at weekend box office.

All The Money In The World – the film that re-shot its scenes after one of its lead actors Kevin Spacey was accused of sexual misconduct and assault – came in fifth place at its opening weekend. Spacey was replaced by actor Christopher Plummer.

The crime thriller, made by British director Ridley Scott, failed to hit the $1.5m mark on its first weekend, taking in $1.468m in earnings across 223 screens, according to the latest Motion Pictures Distributors Association of Australia report.

The film follows the kidnapping of a 16-year-old boy and the attempts of his mother and grandfather to pay the ransom.
