The Playroom’s Cora Spear moves to Yahoo!7 as head of TV
Yahoo!7 has hired Cora Spear, general manager of client services and digital at The Playroom, as head of TV.
Spear takes on the role coordinating the online platform’s digital television partnerships ahead of the imminent launch of HBBTV in Australia, after the digital publisher’s former head of TV Kristin Carlos departed on maternity leave.
Carlos was head of TV for seven years and was promoted to director of connected entertainment in March. Yahoo!7 confirmed this is a separate role to Spear’s as head of TV.
Is it necessary to note who K Carlos is married to?
So, is the connected to her role as head of TV.. or is it entirely separate?
I also feel that mentioning Kristin’s marriage with her promotion is out-dated, sexist and completely inappropriate Mumbrella. Having worked with Kristin previously, she an outstanding executive, who will only flourish in her new role. Terrible journalism…are we back in the 50s?
Congratulations Cora!!
Why mention one woman’s marital status but not the others- just weird.
Thanks for the comments,
I’ve added a line to the story to explain the reason we included Kristin Carlos’ marriage to Leigh Terry – as they appeared in a power couple’s feature we wrote last year.
Obviously this is not normally information we put in stories, but on this occasion it helps set context around the story and industry.
Cheers,
Alex, Mumbrella
Well done Cora !!
