Some journalists might be under the misguided impression that they’re the gatekeepers of what they broadcast and publish.
They would of course be mistaken.
Some naive PRs might think there’s a nuanced give-and-take partnership with the media.
They’d be mistaken too

if you substitute ‘heavily influence’ for ‘control’, there’s no mistake in that copy. sssssh we all know it’s the truth, we just don’t like to talk about it.
Some industry hacks are naive to think that slagging fellow communication professionals off constitutes real journalism…
You can’t confuse ‘real journalism’ with Dr Mumbo, Princess, no more than you can confuse any of your industry’s press releases with being ‘real news’.
Really, it’s a collaborative process of professionals, is not that so?
You need to be able to communicate and write extremely well in both fields.
