Prevention magazine given lifeline by Nextmedia

Health magazine Prevention has been thrown a lifeline after Nextmedia decided to pick up the local license from US publisher Rodale Inc, after Pacific Magazines decided to dump the title.

Prevention

In August Pacific Magazines announced it was pulling out of Prevention, with the license reverting back to Rodale in January.

David Gardiner, CEO of Nextmedia, said: “Prevention is a well-respected and trusted voice in the healthy lifestyle sector. We are very excited to be adding Prevention to our health and food portfolio.”

Prevention draws on the experience of writers from Rodale and industry experts they work with and will be supplemented with Nextmedia’s local contributors.

The magazine will be edited by Andrea Duvall, who has been appointed group editor – health and food after a stint as editor of Australian Healthy Food Guide.

Melissa Fernley has been appointed national advertising manager – health and food and will represent both Prevention and Australian Healthy Food Guide magazines.

Rob Novick, head of global business development, Rodale Inc, said:“Prevention is the magazine for today’s health-minded consumer, so we are elated to extend our partnership with Nextmedia to deliver authoritative information and lifestyle advice that inspires and challenges readers to love their whole life.”

The most recent Audit Bureau figures reveal Prevention to have a circulation of 50,083.
