Private Media CEO departs as Crikey publisher moves to ‘leaner and more agile’ structure
Jason Kibsgaard is leaving the role of CEO at Crikey publisher Private Media after two years with the company, Mumbrella understands.
In a note to staff this afternoon chairman Eric Beecher signalled Private Media would no longer have a CEO but would move to a “flatter… leaner and more agile” structure.
“I want to sincerely thank Jason for his work previously as our COO, and more recently in the role of CEO. He has made a strong contribution to the business over the past two years… his calmness under pressure has been an important stabiliser at key times.”
lucky he’s minted. pity the poor digital journo sods who’ve leapt from the print frying pan into the digital deep fryer. At least the frying pan was on a slow burn – the deep fryer aka are will quickly dissolve many digital publishers, i fear
Amazes that they had a CEO.
I think it makes sense. Crikey was completely obsessed with getting rid of Abbott. Abbott is now history, so mission accomplished for the CEO
Private Media! Here’s a red hot tip that you’re not going to receive from your 2-man consultancy group! Stop approaching the publication of your flagship product, as if it was the University Newspaper! I used to be a fan of Crikey – but unless your political views mirror exactly those of the hyper-leftist student journalists you employ, then the site is unreadable.
Kudos to the guys from Aspermont who have done incredibly well in their own right, however go and look at their stable of online products. It’s a throwback to Web 1.0
Good luck Private Media.
