Production postponed on Survivor Australia due to coronavirus travel restrictions
Ten’s second season of Survivor Australia for 2020 has been postponed, with travel restrictions making the filming of the show, which usually takes place in Fiji, impossible.

A Ten spokesperson said the health and safety of the cast and crew on Australian Survivor is the prime focus of the network.
“Following the Australian Government’s latest advice on overseas travel, plus discussions with the Fijian Government, production of the new season of Australian Survivor has been postponed. While this news is disappointing, the health and safety of everyone involved with the show is our number one priority. We will update everyone on when production will start as soon as we can,” said the spokesperson.
The season was due to air in the final quarter of 2020.
Ten announced in 2019 it would air two seasons of Survivor in 2020. The first, an All Stars season, began on February 3. It premiered to 624,000 metro viewers and has hit a high of 728,000.
Ten has also scaled back the live audience component of its TV shows, including Dancing With The Stars, The Project and Studio 10.
Last night 24/3/2020 a report from the Prime Minister to all Australia was televised and cut into the last 15 minutes of Australia Survivor All Stars. Will this episode be repeated so we can see it in its entirety?

Why was the finale of Australian Survivor all stars filmed this year when all the other episodes were filmed last year ending in October 2019? I thought the entire season including the finale was filmed last year. This would have avoided the disappointing end to the season with Jonathon unable to attend as well as many of the contestants. I thought all Survivor seasons were filmed within the same year?

The finale / reunion show (reading of the winner) is always done LIVE , so even though the episodes were filmed last fall, the LIVE show where the winner is announced has to be done after the last taped show…the contestants have to swear to secrecy for months while it plays on TV.
