Radio Ratings: 2DayFM hits new low; Melbourne market settles down; Mix dominates Adelaide; Shock jock growth stalls in Brisbane
Here is Mumbrella’s wrap of the movers and shakers in the second to last radio survey of the year across the five metropolitan markets.
In Sydney 2DayFM slumped to its lowest total people share yet dropping 0.5 percentage points to 3.5 per cent, behind AM music station 2CH.
In their final survey in the breakfast slot Dan Debuf and Maz Compton slipped back to just a 2.9 per cent share, also behind 2CH’s breakfast shift and bottom of the commercial FM pile. Rove McManus and Sam Frost took over from the pair this week.
I think some of Alan’s audience lost interest in his show when they realised that it was not Alan who decides who is the Prime Minister of Australia. They felt disenfranchised when Malcolm become PM. They thought that Alan was some great political power and have now realised he is just an AM radio announcer.
It is now 702’s audience who decides who is the Prime Minister and this is reflected in Survey 7.
I feel it’s important to remember that no matter what happens at Austereo that’s never management’s fault for continually putting on shows that fail. They always get to keep their jobs and choose another team to give their full support to for at least 6 months.
Eeeeek. 2CH is not a talkback station. It’s a music station. You make this faux pas twice!
Also in the Melbourne ratings chart (great idea by the way) you have Magic 1278 listed as an FM station (it’s on AM). And I’m certain Nova 100 and 3 MMM were not rating 2% in survey one at the start of 2015!
Magic 882 is an AM station in Brisbane not FM
I like your interactive graphs
@Billy C – I think you’ll find the people responsible for the previous 2day breakfast show incarnations no-longer work at Austereo.
As the IQ of the population increases so the audience for Jones decreases. Keep getting smarter Sydney and the little goblin will go right away.
I think it needs to be pointed out that Melbourne’s Magic 1278 and Brisbane’s Magic 882 are AM music stations, not FM stations.
Hi Luke,
That’s being fixed up in the graphs as we speak.
Cheers,
Alex – editor, Mumbrella
@Barry – I think you’ll find Guy Dobson’s still there pulling the strings. Or cutting them every 6-12 months.
What station is Nick Bartlett on, would love to tune in, you are only as good as your last survey
Technically not 2Days lowest score yet. They were on a 10+ 3.5 Share in S8 2014.
There’ll be no champagne corks popping over at 2GB today. This has to be their lowest percentage in years. A worrying sign for Alan Jones since networking his programme to Brisbane his ratings have slid on Sydney.
Alex, how about three buttons on the graph (i) all stations (ii) AM stations (iii) FM stations.
