Radio ratings – Sydney: 2Day FM back on top
2Day FM has recovered its place at the top of the FM commercial battle in the latest set of radio ratings while the ABC’s Adam Spencer increased his audience on the day that he announced that he was bowing out.
On all metrics, Southern Cross Austereo’s station moved back on top – albeit by just 5,000 listeners in cumulative audience.
Some very interesting results and concerns for a few stations, quiet a few stations
Sydney’s No 1 is 2GB – Over 6 points ahead of 2DAY
2GB will have nothing to talk about if Labor lose the election. They won’t criticise a Liberal government they have worked so hard to install.
2DAYFM are Sydney’s #3 – how can they get away with promoting themselves as #1. 2GB has 42% more listeners than 2DayFM. 2DayFM are far from top.
Both AM & FM come out of the same radio speakers, why do we treat it differently?
Who cares – theyre meaningless
Would you want your ad broadcast in FM or AM quality radio? It’s like black and white analogue TV v HD TV!
Triple J’s slide continues, just as news that their magazine has also been cancelled. Their target demographic is getting their music and news from online and from rival stations like Nova and FBi. Soon they will have less listeners than Radio National! It maybe time to save taxpayers dollars and switch off Triple J’s analogue transmitters.
Obviously I cannot rely on you for correct information. 2DAYfm is NOT on top. 2GB is clearly No1. Ok you’ll say you said “fm stations”. A nonsense. Radio is radio is radio is radio. Is it not ?
Hi Annie,
I did indeed say FM commercial stations. That’s generally seen as a separate – and credit to 2GB, closer – battleground than AM.

How much longer can 2UE stick with their non performers? Look at their website. Its chock a block with every failed has been who has had stab at talk radio and failed. Both there and elsewhere Bring on some fresh talent or change format. It is clearly not working and surely UE can’t hold onto this “nothingness” for much longer!
PJ,
While we’re on acronames, what does UE stand for do you reckon? UnExciting… Uber Elders… Unique Experiment…Ultra Extemporaneous, Urban Extinction???
OTY IMHO BTW FAOFL WAFL LOL RSVP ASAP
are their ratings slipping?
2UE was originally to be called 2EU (Electrical Utility) but it was proven to hard to say on air so they reversed it to 2UE
@paul – great fact – thnx – EU is phonetically appropriate don’t u think?
I love the radio industry in Sydney. Not one comment on Mumbrella for any other city’s survey results but 13 comments on the Sydney survey.
Brash, argumentative and in your face – Sydney.
